On February 17th, 2023, the IEEE PES Student Branch Chapter (SBC) at the University of Manchester held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) to mark the end of the outgoing committee’s tenure and the beginning of a new one. During the meeting, the outgoing committee presented a comprehensive review of their activities, and a democratic election was held to fill the various roles within the SBC.
Mr. Omoniyi Akinpelumi, the outgoing Chair, highlighted the numerous successes achieved during his tenure, which included organizing virtual pub-quiz shows, increasing the SBC’s social media following, and successfully hosting a site visit to the Viridor Power Plant in Runcorn and the MEEPS conference. Based on these achievements, the SBC was awarded the IEEE High-Performance Student Branch Chapter and IEEE Women in Power Funding Scheme, which is a remarkable feat.
The election results saw Airam Perez Guillen, the former Treasurer/Event Coordinator, elected as the new Chair of the SBC committee. The other newly elected committee members are listed below, and we wish them all the best in their roles:
